Kari McFarlane, Founder and CEO of Akinship, currently serves as a strategic People Partner & Advisor for the Research & Health product area at Google. Kari has over 15 years of experience providing strategic people operations, talent management, organizational development and change management.

Kari holds a Master’s degree in Human Resources and Public Administration and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics & Political Science from Howard University. Kari has lived in many places but calls both Chicago & Atlanta home. In her spare time, Kari enjoys running, traveling, salsa dancing, and riding her Peloton. Kari is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.

Finance Expert, DE&I and Higher Education Professional

Marie Nuon, Co-founder, COO & CFO of Akinship, recently served as Associate Director of MIT Sloan’s Master of Finance Program. She played a major role in executing the strategy of the top ranked program, working with senior leadership and faculty on program development and the recruitment of top candidates. Prior to MIT, Marie spent 10 years in finance as a Portfolio Manager, responsible for the investments of client funds.

Marie holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration with a Concentration in Finance from George Washington University and a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Economics from Simmons University. When she’s not diving into market news, Marie is a wine enthusiast who enjoys spending time with her family & friends and two Frenchies, reading, meditation and yoga, traveling, and philanthropy work.
